Connecting growers and companies to deploy field-ready tech rooted in real need.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Agriculture innovation is advancing faster than ever, but the ecosystem remains fragmented. Growers, startups, universities, and funders often work in isolation, with no shared system for connecting real-world challenges to emerging solutions. F3i is building an open innovation platform and targeted resources to scale industry-led innovations for widespread adoption across farms of all sizes.
IDENTIFY
We surface industry challenges and existing solutions through targeted workshops and our continuously updated R&D library and asset map.
SOLVE
We translate industry-defined challenges into validated solutions through supercomputing data challenges and funding programs.
SCALE
We drive real-world adoption by preparing teams for market entry, enabling IP and technology transfer, and providing late-stage funding to scale validated solutions.
REGIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE
Introducing the Supercomputing Center
Bringing advanced AI infrastructure into California’s Central Valley.
The Supercomputing Center creates regional infrastructure for AI, data-intensive research, and agricultural modeling. Built through a multi-institution partnership, the center gives universities, researchers, startups, and industry partners access to technical capacity from within the region these tools are designed to serve.
01 / Infrastructure in the region
Advanced AI and data-processing capacity housed within a Central Valley university setting.
02 / Support agricultural modeling
Infrastructure for simulation, analysis, and applied research tied to real production environments.
03 / Expand shared technical capacity
A resource for researchers, students, startups, and partners across California’s agricultural innovation ecosystem.
REGIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE
Industry Defined Data Challenges
Turning real agricultural questions into structured AI sprints.
F3i Data Challenges give researchers, students, and technical teams a defined problem space: regional datasets, applied constraints, and clear evaluation criteria. Each challenge is designed to produce models, methods, and insights that can inform future pilots and deployment.
01 / Frame the challenge
Agricultural questions are translated into a clear technical problem tied to crops, operations, imagery, climate, or regional data gaps.
02 / Work from shared inputs
Teams use defined datasets, timelines, rules, and evaluation criteria to explore possible approaches.
03 / Build toward deployment
Outputs are designed to support validation, future pilots, and stronger decision-making in real production environments.
DEPLOYMENT SUPPORT
Targeted Innovation Grants
Capital support for moving new agricultural technologies into field-based validation.
F3i Innovation Grants support projects that are ready to test, validate, or advance new approaches in California’s Central Valley. The goal is to help teams move beyond early concepts and generate the evidence, partnerships, and field context needed for adoption.
01 / Fund regional projects
Support projects with a clear connection to agricultural resilience, operational need, or industry priorities.
02 / Test in real-world environments
Help teams validate solutions in real production environments, not just controlled research settings.
03 / Advance adoption
Move promising technologies closer to growers, partners, and implementation pathways.
