F3i’s work spans several core programs. Working closely with the CEO, the Communications Manager will help build awareness and communicate impact across the following areas:

  • Talent Development: F3i is developing a locally rooted workforce equipped to deploy, scale, and maintain the systems powering the future of agriculture.

  • Catalyst Fund: F3i is creating a first-of-its-kind fund to support agricultural technologies through their most critical stages so they can deliver tangible results for farmers and industry.

  • Commercialization Engine: F3i connects growers and companies to pilot and deploy breakthrough technologies grounded in practical, on-the-ground farming needs.

  • F3i Insights: F3i translates research projects and field pilots into actionable insights informing the next era of agriculture.

ABOUT THE ROLE

F3 Innovate is seeking a communications manager to lead and execute strategies that elevate our mission, showcase our impact, and grow awareness across audiences. This hybrid role calls for a strong writer and self-starter with experience in digital media, executive leadership support, PR, and partnership building. You’ll report directly to the CEO and be based in California, with travel to the Central Valley approximately 20–30% of the time.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement a results-driven communications strategy that amplifies F3i’s mission and programs

  • Lead executive communications and thought leadership across digital, print, and live platforms

  • Manage content creation across digital platforms, including social media, newsletters, and webinars

  • Lead PR efforts, including writing and maintaining strong relationships with journalists and media outlets

  • Produce factsheets, reports, presentations, and other branded materials

  • Partner with local and global partners for co-marketing, webinars, and joint events

  • Translate complex ideas and industry insights into compelling, accessible content

  • Oversee editorial calendar and process and ensure consistent voice and messaging

  • Monitor and analyze communication metrics; adjust strategies to increase reach and impact

  • Oversee production of F3i Insights reports and materials

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8–10 years of experience in strategic communications, public affairs, PR, or journalism

  • Understand agriculture, technology, and the policies shaping the future of food and farming

  • Write well and have the creative ability to tell stories about our mission, programs, impact, and partners

  • Have led successful digital media campaigns across different platforms

  • Enjoy building relationships and translating big ideas for broad audiences

  • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and small team

  • Based in California (with preference for Sacramento or the Central Valley)

  • Proven track record of elevating programmatic and policy work through storytelling, media, and events

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The salary range is $100,000 - $112,000 annually, based on qualifications and experience. Benefits will include health insurance; holiday, sick and vacation leave; and other benefits.
