FAQs

TerraTech Internship

For Interns

  • Possibly, as requirements vary by campus. Many students are able to earn academic credit for completing a TerraTech internship. If you elect to earn credit, F3i can provide the documentation and supervision needed. Please note that you may be required to pay tuition for credit-bearing units.

  • F3i uses a rolling placement process, meaning strong applicants are matched with host organizations as applications come in. Some host organizations request interviews before placement, while others rely on F3i’s recommendations.

You will receive updates on your status throughout the spring.

  • A host is the company, nonprofit, or government agency where you will complete your internship. This includes both the organization and the supervisor who oversees your project.

F3i works closely with hosts to understand their goals, available support, and project needs in order to make strong matches between interns and organizations. These organizations apply to participate, and F3i ensures they can provide a high-quality learning environment.

  • Applicants are notified once a match is confirmed. Some students interview with a potential host before being placed. Placements begin early 2026 and continue on a rolling basis until the program starts on June 1.

  • You’ll receive confirmation when you submit your application. Because placements are on a rolling basis, timing depends on available host organizations. F3i will stay in touch and update you as new opportunities open.

  • Interns complete required online onboarding sessions before the internship period begins. Pay periods officially start June 1, when you begin working with your host organization.

  • Onboarding consists of approximately 10 hours or training, covering:

    • Professional and soft skills

    • Workplace expectations

    • Program-specific information

    • Safety and compliance topics

This helps ensure you feel prepared before entering the workplace.

  • Most placements are hybrid, combining in-person and remote work, though some placements are fully in person. The structure depends on the project and host company.

  • Current sites range throughout the Central Valley, from Kern County through San Joaquin County, with future opportunities expanding across California.

What if I’m placed somewhere far from home or campus?

Reliable transportation is essential. We try to match students with organizations that are within a feasible distance. If you have concerns, please reach out early.

  • You are welcome to reach out to talent@f3innovate.org with any questions during the process.
